Our Vision: Turning Waste Into Worth

Project Tissera was launched with a purpose that goes beyond simply creating products — it was founded to spark a shift in how society views waste. Every year, millions of tonnes of textile scraps are dumped into landfills, contributing heavily to environmental pollution. Recognizing this challenge, a passionate team of Enactus MLNC students came together in October 2025 to build a project focused on sustainability, innovation, and responsible consumption.

At Tissera, we believe that waste is not an end, but a beginning. Our vision is to build a circular, self-sustaining ecosystem where discarded fabric is reimagined, redesigned, and reborn as high-quality, eco-friendly products. The project reflects the core Enactus values — entrepreneurial action, social responsibility, and community impact. Through creativity, conscious design, and environmentally responsible practices, we aim to empower people to choose sustainability in their everyday lives.

Our long-term goal is to create a model where every piece of fabric is valued, every individual involved is empowered, and every product made brings us one step closer to a greener world.

2. What We Do

Project Tissera is an upcycling initiative that converts textile waste into meaningful, functional, and sustainable lifestyle products. Our work begins with collecting discarded cotton and fabric scraps from households, tailoring units, boutiques, manufacturers, and community drives.

After sorting the material, we collaborate with local artisans and partner NGOs to turn this waste into well-designed, high-quality products. These collaborations ensure that our impact is ethical, community-driven, and economically empowering.

Every product is a combination of rescued fabric, skilled craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. Our team ensures that the items are durable, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally responsible. No two pieces are exactly the same — each product has its own story, texture, and identity, representing the beauty of upcycling.

Project Tissera’s impact is anchored in three pillars — Environmental Responsibility, Economic Support, and Social Empowerment.

 Environmental Impact

• We collect and upcycle textile waste, diverting significant amounts of fabric from landfills.

• Each product contributes to reducing the carbon footprint associated with textile production and waste disposal.

• Through workshops, exhibitions, and campaigns, we spread awareness about sustainability and conscious consumption.

• We encourage students and communities to adopt eco-friendly alternatives in their daily lives.

Economic Impact

• We collaborate closely with local artisans, tailoring communities, and NGOs, offering them consistent opportunities and fair earnings.

• Our production process supports the livelihoods of skilled workers who play a central role in upcycling fabric into premium products.

• By merging student innovation with artisan expertise, we create a value chain that benefits both creativity and craftsmanship.

Social Impact

• Tissera is student-driven, giving MLNC students hands-on experience in design, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

• By working with NGOs and artisan partners, we uplift communities and encourage skill development.

• The project spreads awareness about environmental responsibility, menstrual hygiene (via sanitary pouches), and reducing textile waste.
